Black History Month Feature: Wud’n Spoon

By NaTyshca Pickett

One primary motivation for highlighting Black businesses is to address historical and systemic inequality in economic possibilities. Throughout history, Black entrepreneurs have encountered discrimination, limited access to financing, and unequal commercial possibilities. By aggressively featuring and supporting Black businesses, we help to address these inequities and promote economic fairness. This recognition contributes to the breakdown of barriers and the creation of a more inclusive business climate, helping Black entrepreneurs to gain attention, grow, and succeed.

For this feature, I present to you Fraña Colón of Wud’n Spoon.

I started this business during COVID but have been nudged to start my own cooking business for decades. I finally had the inspiration to do so in 2020 and I haven't looked back! I come from a long healthy bloodline on amazing cooks and bakers. This is in my DNA!

I was already known for my bread loafs and dinner rolls. But I wanted to dance with the idea of making some cinnamon rolls with my dough. That led to my sweet potato pie rolls that are a hit top this day! they are my best seller. People assume they are super sweet, but they aren't.

I wanted them to remind you of that perfectly balanced slice of sweet potato pie with some sweet whipped cream on top. But with my rolls, it's the grand baby to the sweet potato pie and cinnamon roll that made things happen! I have six options to choose from!

*Listed in order of popularity*
