Black History Month Feature: Blax Friday

NaTyshca Pickett

One primary motivation for highlighting Black businesses is to address historical and systemic inequality in economic possibilities. Throughout history, Black entrepreneurs have encountered discrimination, limited access to financing, and unequal commercial possibilities. By aggressively featuring and supporting Black businesses, we help to address these inequities and promote economic fairness. This recognition contributes to the breakdown of barriers and the creation of a more inclusive business climate, helping Black entrepreneurs to gain attention, grow, and succeed.

For this feature, I present to you Blax Friday.

Blax Friday is a community organization created in the summer of 2020, that spotlights Black businesses in Arizona. As the largest Black business directory and only Black business app in Arizona, our goals are representation and economic empowerment of Black business owners. Blax Friday is the creator of the largest Black Owned Business (BOB) Festival in Arizona with over 70+ businesses represented annually.

We are Black business owners who joined forces to build a bridge between Black owned businesses and the communities they serve in Arizona. We are focused on positive actionable steps towards inclusivity and equity.

To learn more and stay connected be sure to follow them on Instagram, Facebook, and their website Blax Friday.
