Black History Month Feature: Free Expressions by Dashonna

By NaTyshca Pickett

One primary motivation for highlighting Black businesses is to address historical and systemic inequality in economic possibilities. Throughout history, Black entrepreneurs have encountered discrimination, limited access to financing, and unequal commercial possibilities. By aggressively featuring and supporting Black businesses, we help to address these inequities and promote economic fairness. This recognition contributes to the breakdown of barriers and the creation of a more inclusive business climate, helping Black entrepreneurs to gain attention, grow, and succeed.

For this feature, I present to you Free Expressions by Dashonna.

When Dashonna got licensed and published internationally more than fourteen years ago, her devotion to hair and beauty was evident. She may be a mobile stylist, but her salon is located in the heart of Tempe, Arizona.

Your Beard Box and AwaKend Treeses, two of her hair therapy items that are completely vegan, are testaments to her determination and hard work.

In addition to her appearance in an Audemars Piguet commercial, her resume includes work at Super Bowl XLIX, multiple Fashion Weeks (including New York, Dubai, and Phoenix in 2022), and one Super Bowl.

Notable clients include Joni and Debbie Sledge of Sister Sledge, WNBA legend Lisa Leslie, NFL and NBA athletes, and award-winning musician Swae Lee.

Dashonna is all about loving yourself just the way you are and giving power to the younger generation.

Be sure to follow Dashonna on Instagram to stay connected and to support her business by booking an appointment.
